Keeping Baby Warm

Thursday, July 30, 2009

A terry sleeping sac is just the thing for a newborn.  Babies love to kick and can easily kick off their blankets.  In a sleeping sac your baby will be able to wave his arms and kick as much as he’d like and still be cozy and warm. In a carrier when you’re out and about, a sac will keep baby’s feet warm, too.

Cotton is a soft and durable. It’s amazing how much laundry one tiny baby can create. Cotton baby clothing will withstand many washings. Organic cotton contains no chemicals that might harm your baby so a sleeping sac made of organic cotton is just the thing for your baby’s comfort and warmth.

Babies grow so fast, we need to think of ways to economize where baby clothing is concerned. You can cut off the bottom when the newborn has outgrown the sac and use it as a vest or shirt.

Crib Safety Standards

Friday, July 24, 2009

Young children spend more time in their cribs than in any other single location. For that reason, cribs should conform to a number of rigorous safety standards. These basic rules of thumb are also applicable to a convertible crib, which can be converted into a small toddler bed as the child grows older. If you are the parent of a young child, be sure that the crib you select falls within the following guidelines.

No operational crib should bear rough metal edges as they put the child in danger. Mattresses should be only slightly smaller than the crib frame – larger discrepancies create pockets where children can get stuck. A paint job should consist of high-quality enamel, not lead paint. Cover any exposed nuts, bolts and screws with a protective plastic coating to avoid injury. By following these general tips, you can help ensure the safety of your child.

Do you always agree?

Sunday, July 19, 2009

You most likely do not always agree with your friends and relatives. But when it comes to your baby, you might all agree organic is the way to go. From foods to bedding to baby clothing and even the soap or shampoo you use, organic has no chemicals added. They contain no artificial color or dyes.
Even chemicals in the bedding or clothing of your baby can have adverse effects. They can cause allergies, breathing problems, and possibly SIDS  (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). If you cannot afford organic, try to get products that contain the least amount of additives or chemicals.

Your Choice

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

Which would you choose; an organic bodysuit for your new baby, or a study of some frog to determine how they care for their young.

You can only spend your dollar on one or the other and the choice should be yours.  For the health of your child, you’d probably choose the organic baby clothing

The number of children suffering from various medical problems has increased dramatically in the past 20 years.  We believe the cause is largely the toxins in our current environment. Newborn babies have not developed their immune system enough to nuetralize the hazordous effects of toxins.  Consider protecting your baby by buying organic products when possible.

Going Green? Try Organic Baby Diapers

Sunday, July 05, 2009

Is there a green value to using organic baby diapers?  Well, you do not throw them away every time you change the baby.  Your not filling up the landfills by dispossing of them.  Even after your baby no longer needs diapers, you can use them as cleaning rags.

We have discussed in previous blogs the value of organic baby clothing.  There are no chemicals to irratate baby’s bottom.  Organic cotton is soft and comfortable.  Whether it is green or not, using organic cotton diapers is healthier for your baby.
